As you write your prose or poetry,
let the melody of your creativity flow. And like a river or stream, even it doesn’t quite know where it will end up. Don’t build a lot of obstructions, no dam building. No self-censorship.

Write through the first draft. This is a passion draft. Then play with your second draft; this is the clarity draft. Does what you’ve written make sense, to you and will it be understood by your reader? And then drafts 3 through (20??) are the economy drafts. Take out redundancies; find the RIGHT (most interesting) WORD; be careful not to overload the piece with too many adjectives and adverbs— remember what Stephen King said, “The path to Hell is paved with adverbs.” (Find the correct and exciting verb and you won’t need the adverb…)
