The Day May Come/ poem by Melissa Chappell

The day may come
when the moon shutters its light
the sun no longer blooms
across my eastern sill

no reckoning

of nocturnal hauntings
upon the bed fragranced

for us

the day may come

and Summer
will never again
bring the end of the world
raptured

raging
