we see your tail exhaling fire
an inverted dragon
with eyes stone cold
in a face of anguish
barely holding that distant
memory of your jailbreak
seven sister states away
you’re on the lam
skidding through the
outer banks of nothing
the nomad’s
timeless cries pierce
the pinprick holes of heaven
the immigrant
igniting a mobius path
that holds dark secrets
the refugee
outrunning the firestorm
that consumes your every moment
as you come near
we’re haunted by
your presence
our walls build up
suspicions grow
marvel turns to dread
you’re in our crosshairs
(just in case)
